A fab Flip Girl's design inspired a new Triple Flip Top, the Split Corset Top!

My name’s Jeanine, and I’m 13 years old. I love Triple Flip! I’m interested in fashion design, and I thought I’d take a whack at design some Flipwear myself. Attached is something I came up with while I was simply doodling in MS Paint. I’ve done a few different colour ideas using the colours found on the Triple Flip website. Anyways, It would be so cool if I could see this design come to life, because I know I’d totally buy it. I’ve also shown it to my friends, and they love it too. Let me know what you think!

We really loved Jeanine’s design!  While we weren’t able to implement it exactly as drawn, for some technical reasons, this design was the inspiration for a new style that we created and put into production at Triple Flip, the Split Corset Top, being modelled here!

Saturdays’ at Triple Flip are always filled with excitement and energetic customers, especially today in Saskatoon. We had a special birthday girl named Paulette hop in for a visit. Unfortunately, we did not have anything in her size so we gave her a sticker and wished her a fliptastic day!

Katie worked hard for her Tingo Hoodie!

Today, in Saskatoon, we had a great start to our morning when a customer came in to purchase a Black Tingo Hoodie!

8 year old Katie had been saving her pennies since the end of December to buy a Triple Flip jacket!!! She worked VERY hard, walking her Grandma’s 3 poodles, shoveling the snow from her driveway, washing the dishes and various other chores.

She knew exactly what she wanted when she came in shortly after we opened our doors first thing in the morning and left with a BIG smile on her face wearing her Tingo.

Smashing synchronized swimmers in their Triple Flip Teamwear!

Triple Flip is thrilled to be able to support the team as they host the Wildrose Provincial Synchronized Swim Meet. Check out all the action, as swimmers from across Alberta compete in this prestigious event, the weekend of April 24-26 at the U of C!

Owners Linda and Mona Rae got a wonderful email from Elizabeth, who was doing a school project on some of Canada’s famous people. We were very flattered that she decided to do Canadian fashion entrepreneurs, and chose Triple Flip! She asked some very thoughtful questions, we just had to share some of them!

When will you open a new store? 
Triple Flip opened its first store in Calgary in October 2005. Store #2 was in Saskatoon in March 2008.  Store #3 was in Edmonton in November 2008. And Store #4 will begin construction this March, for a May 2009 opening in West Edmonton Mall. New opportunities are always in the works!

Do you manufacture your own clothes? 
Triple Flip designs all of the clothes, and chooses and purchases all of the fabric. The actual sewing is contracted out to manufacturers who cut the fabric and sew it into garments, based on our patterns. Most of our sewing is done in Calgary. Recently, because Calgary does not have enough sewers to keep up with the demand of our new stores, we have sent some of the sewing to be done in Los Angeles, California. 

What are your goals for the future? 
Our goal is to become the national brand of choice for girls in Canada, making clothes that they love and feel good in. 

How did you start Triple Flip?  
Why did you start Triple Flip?
Where did you get the idea for Triple Flip? 
The idea for Triple Flip came from Linda’s 9 year old daughter. Linda and her daughter struggled to find clothes that fit her well. It seemed like everything they tried either was too big in the waist, or not long enough in the legs. The choices in stores were very limited and unexciting. She suggested we start their own store, and the idea was born! They knew that so many other girls around this age must also need and want good clothes, so it seemed like a really good business idea that would also make a lot of girls happy. They started out by looking for fabric that would feel really good and be comfortable to wear, and also look great wash after wash, as they knew how disappointing it was to buy something new, only to have it not look the same after the first wash. These clothes had to be made with something of really high quality. Once they found the best fabric, they started producing designs just in black and white, based on what their daughters and their friends told them they wanted to wear. They took this first line of designs and made up samples. They then invited four focus groups of 20 girls each to come to a party to see the styles and tell them what they thought.  Their opinions were so important, because whatever they said, we were going to put into production and into our very first store! They rated each piece as Love it, Lose it, Fix It, or OMIGOSH I have to have it! What these girls thought was really important in what Triple Flip produced.  We still ask girls everyday what they want to wear, what we should make, and what colors we should make it in.  Girls are encouraged to send in their own unique designs as well. Triple Flip always wants to make sure that we give our customers just what they are looking for in their clothes.

What is your best selling outfit? 
Our #1 selling piece is our Minky Dimples Jacket. We have sold more than 10,000 of these jackets since we opened.  They are loved for their incredible softness and coziness that is absolutely irresistible.  After that, our next most popular piece is our pants. Pants are so hard to find that fit well. We know so many girls that have NEVER found pants to fit them except at Triple Flip. This makes us very happy to know that we are making something that makes girls so happy.

Thank you for your email (about my school assignment). I got lots of information from it.  You were the only one who wrote back.

It’s no surprise that the Minky Dimples jackets are your best selling item.  I absolutely love mine and I think the new jackets are cool. For Christmas all I wanted was something from Triple Flip… Attached are pictures of me wearing my Triple Flip jacket and pants…

I absolutely hate writing and doing research but I loved writing about Triple Flip and the research was so interesting. I also enjoy designing clothes and in the future I want to open my own store.  I love designing so much and the idea of owning a store is so cool that in my basement I made a “store” for my sisters and it was called Lizzie Lime.

Triple Flip Calgary's latest Flip Girls make their debut!

In February we had a fabulous photo shoot at Triple Flip Deerfoot Meadows in Calgary. It’s quite a process to go through all 2000+ images from our 24 Flip Girls and narrow it down to each girl’s best shots for the in-store posters and for on our website, but we’re happy to report that these gorgeous smiling faces are now on www.tripleflip.ca on the runway and in the Flip Girl gallery, and the posters will be arriving to the Calgary store very soon!

Summer's coming! Soon it will be time for Flip Dresses!

As the weather is FINALLY getting warmer and it’s almost safe to say that we’re done with ALL that snow! At Triple Flip, we definitely have Spring Fever!

With summer sunshine just around the corner, you know what that means – tis the season for skorts, shorts and of course dresses! We’ve got some fab styles of strappy dresses and wrap dresses at the stores now, and, some brand new designs are in the works, so stay tuned!
